Insight on 2019 and beyond

As 2019 draws to a close and we enter a new decade in 2020, we’d like to reflect on past accomplishments and plans for the new year. Throughout another busy year, it has been an honor and a pleasure to work together with our customers, helping them reach their goals.

Within our organization, the focus for the future is to capture the strength of our assets. Besides investing in our products and brands, we will also take advantage of the large investments made in new and renovated facilities in Canada, Spain, France, Brazil, the UK and the USA. Efficient operations in these hubs will allow us to safeguard the delivery of our high quality genetic products to our customers. In addition, our continuous investment in R&D will allow us to continue to accelerate genetic progress for all our products.

Our products continue to perform in the field, showing great strength in productivity, livability egg quality and efficiency in all housing systems. Besides the great performance in the Random Sample Tests (from North Carolina to Gunma) an exciting milestone has been reached now that the first egg producers are able to get the full genetic potential out of the Hendrix Genetics breeds, even in organic systems. Those flocks are just some of the producers who have reached this milestone. Egg producers from the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, and Brazil have also achieved 500 eggs, or even more, in 100 weeks, and we know that many more will follow in the year to come.

The SAPPSA project (Sustainable Access to Poultry Parental Stock to Africa), now in action for almost a year, was initiated to give rural farmers access to improved chicken genetics. This means more income for the farmer and more food available for the African markets. This project has been awarded a multi-year grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Access to improved breeds, such as dual breed chickens, are supplied by our traditional poultry business, SASSO. These birds can be raised for meat and for eggs and will help the African continent meet the growing demand for food.

With the goal of breeding a healthy hen for longer production cycles, our products contain the genetic potential necessary for our customers to succeed and to make their contribution towards more sustainable animal protein production. It is positive that the consumption of eggs continues to grow, showing that there is trust in the egg industry with a bright future ahead.

Besides great products, the strong customer relationships we have with you continue to be the reason for our success.

To all our valued customers and followers, we want to thank you once again for another year of strong partnership and wish you and yours a happy and prosperous new year! Enjoy this special time of year spent with friends, family, and loved ones. We are excited to see what new opportunities will bring for you and your family.
