Layer Vision 34 is now available to read!
At a time when global relationships are under pressure and uncertainty has become part of daily reality, our industry is reminded of how important balance, cooperation and long-term thinking really are. Especially now, collaboration across the value chain, a clear focus on the customer, and respect for the environment around us are what allow real progress to happen.
With that perspective in mind, we are pleased to share the latest edition of Layer Vision, issue 34.
In this issue, we reflect on how consistent genetic progress continues to support our customers in a practical and predictable way. Not driven by short-term trends, but by balanced breeding choices made over generations. The results of the 41st North Carolina Random Sample Test once again confirm that our breeding program is stable and on the right track, delivering reliable performance across different housing systems.
Beyond genetics, this edition also highlights the strength of cooperation within the egg industry. Together with our customers and industry partners, we explore where innovation is already making a difference today, and where new developments are starting to take shape. Topics such as the automated sexing of day-old chicks, the latest insights in salmonella vaccination, the influence of nutrition on yolk colour, and how light can be used to guide behaviour and welfare, show how knowledge, technology and experience all can come together at farm level.
As Easter approaches, a moment when eggs naturally take centre stage, this issue also reflects on their wider role. Eggs, and the chickens that produce them, can genuinely make a difference, not only through efficient production, but also through their social impact. Initiatives we have supported in India, as well as projects developed together with our customer in Costa Rica, show how access to productive laying hens and first quality eggs can strengthen livelihoods, support local communities and improve the daily nutrition for many. These 2 examples just underline how breeding, management, and collaboration come together, and how the choices that we make can create impact beyond just performance figures.
Ultimately, this edition reflects something we all recognise from daily practice: real progress is rarely the result of a single decision or one innovation. It is built step by step, through consistency, cooperation and a shared sense of responsibility. By staying focused on our customers, working closely with partners across the industry, and keeping the broader context in mind, we can continue to make meaningful progress, even in uncertain times. We look forward to continuing that journey together.
