Inauguration of the International Training Center for Cage-Free and Innovation Welfare Hub in Yogyakarta

On June 16, 2023, a momentous occasion took place in Sleman, Yogyakarta, as the International Training Center for Cage-Free and Innovation Welfare Hub was officially inaugurated. The opening speech for the event was done by Elissa Lane, CEO of Global Food Partner, and Ignatius Susatyo M.M., Vice Rector for Business Development and Cooperation Universitas Gadjah Mada.

The ceremony saw the presence of project partners, including the Faculty of Animal Sciences at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Aeres University, Hendrix Genetics, Hotraco Agri, Hato Lightning, Vencomatic, Agro Mix Lestari, the Indonesian Layer Farmers Association, Marriot Hotel Yogyakarta and other stakeholders.

The International Training Center for Cage-Free Innovation Welfare Hub is the first and largest of its kind in Asia, marking a significant milestone in advancing humane poultry farming practices. In her address, Elissa Lane emphasized the importance of the center as a hub for innovation and knowledge exchange. She expressed gratitude to the project partners for their support in transforming the poultry industry.

Vice Rector Ignatius Susatyo M.M. commended the collaboration between the partners and highlighted the center's role in promoting sustainable farming practices. He emphasized that the establishment of the International Training Center in Sleman, Yogyakarta positions Indonesia as a leader in advancing cage-free innovations in Southeast Asia.

The ceremonial ribbon-cutting, performed by Elissa Lane and Vice Rector Ignatius Susatyo, marked the official inauguration of the project. The cutting-edge center incorporates advanced technology and infrastructure, providing comprehensive training programs to promote the welfare of poultry through cage-free systems.

The International Training Center's inauguration received enthusiastic support from participants, fostering optimism for the future of humane poultry farming practices. With the collaboration of UGM's Faculty of Animal Sciences, Aeres University, Hendrix Genetics, Hotraco Agri, Hato, Vencomatic, Agro Mix Lestari, the Indonesian Layer Farmers Association, Marriot Yogyakarta Hotel and other stakeholders, the center is poised to drive significant positive change in the industry.
